Hotel Staff Panic Alert Buttons for NY & NJ:
a duress alert that reaches the right people on-site, located, not just alarmed.

A housekeeper working alone in a guest room needs to know that just one press raises an alarm that says exactly where they are and reaches the on-site responders. Behind that press sits a real system: the duress device, a location layer that fixes the alert to the right room and floor, routing that carries it to the front desk and security, and coverage that holds in the stairwell and the back corridor, not only the lobby. NYC IT Works builds and documents that system for hotels across the NY and NJ metro, works across the staff-safety platforms you run, and covers the ground a general alarm contractor tends to walk past.
The first step is a short on-site walkthrough of your coverage and response.

WHERE THE BUTTON MEETS THE BUILDING
A panic button is only as real as the location it carries and the responder it reaches.
The press itself is the easy part. What makes a duress alarm trustworthy is everything that fires in the next few seconds: the alert has to pin the worker to an exact room and floor, reach a person who is genuinely watching, and do both from a stairwell or a back corridor where an ordinary signal would die. We keep the device platform, the in-building location layer and the alert routing healthy, so a worker who presses is found and answered rather than left on a dead spot, no matter where the work takes them.
WHAT WE KEEP RUNNING
A panic button has to do three things the moment it is pressed, or it has not worked at all.
THE DEVICE
A button staff will actually carry
A duress device only protects someone who keeps it on them, so it has to be light, simple and dependable enough to be worn through a whole shift. We help you choose and deploy a platform that fits how your staff really work, pair every unit, and keep the fleet charged, assigned and ready, so the button is there in the one moment it is needed.
THE RESPONSE
An alert that reaches a real person
A press that lands in an empty inbox is not help. We build the routing that carries the alarm to the people who can act, the front desk, the security team, a manager on radio or phone, with the room and the floor attached. We test that it lands fast and in full, and if the first point of contact does not acknowledge, it rolls to the next, so the alarm is never stranded on one person who stepped away.
THE MANDATE
The duty the law now puts on the hotel
New York’s Safe Hotels Act and New Jersey’s hotel panic-device law both require a working duress device for staff who enter guest rooms, with an alert that locates the worker and reaches the right person. That obligation sits with the hotel, and the parts that make it real live in IT: the device, the location data, the routing and the coverage. We build and document that system and keep the records that show it was tested. We are not your lawyers, and we do not certify compliance; confirm that with your own counsel.

THE PLATFORMS WE WORK ACROSS
We know hotel staff-safety systems down to the dead spots.
Every staff-safety platform rides on a network, leans on a location layer, and lives or dies by a handful of integrations, and those are ours to own. We do not resell the devices or stand in as your alarm company. We help a property pick a platform that suits its building, then make the location accurate, the routing dependable and the coverage complete, down to the stairwells and service areas a standard install tends to skip. That inside knowledge is what lets us set the room-level location and the alert path correctly on the first pass.

INTERFACES & INTEGRATIONS
A panic alert is a chain, and it is only as strong as its weakest link.
A worker presses a button, and a name, a room, a floor and a live alarm have to appear in front of the right person almost at once. None of that comes from the device by itself. Each piece is a separate handoff: to the location layer that turns a press into a place, to the network that carries it, to the radios and phones that raise the alarm, and to the log that later proves it happened. We build and record each of those links at every property you run across New York and New Jersey, so the button does not merely buzz in a pocket. It brings the right help to the right door.
LOCATION LAYER
Room and Floor, Not Just the Building
A duress alert is only useful if it says where. We deploy the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and beacon coverage that resolves a press to the floor and the room, tie every reference point to a real place on the property, and revise that map whenever rooms, walls or numbers move, so responders are sent to a door and not to a lobby.
ALERT ROUTING
The Right People, Not a Siren
Routing is a set of decisions, not a default. We configure who the alarm reaches and in what sequence, map it to the radios, phones and desk stations your team actually watches, and script the fallback for a missed acknowledgment. Then we test the whole path end to end, so a real press follows a route that has already been proven under pressure.
NETWORK & COVERAGE
Coverage in Every Corner
A button is worthless in a spot where the signal cannot get out. We survey the whole footprint, guest floors, back corridors, stairwells, loading docks and the roof, then build the wireless and cabling so a press registers everywhere a lone worker might be. Where construction swallows a signal, we add the hardware to fill it, and we retest after any renovation that could open a new blind spot.
DEVICE & BATTERY MGMT
Charged, Assigned and Ready
A dead battery is a failed alarm. We set up the charging, assignment and health checks that keep every unit ready for a shift, track which device belongs to whom, and flag a low or failing battery before it becomes a gap. New hires get a working device on day one, and a lost unit is deactivated the hour it goes missing.
INCIDENT LOGGING & RECORDS
A Record You Can Stand On
Every press, test and response can be captured with a time, a place and an outcome, so the property holds a clear account of what happened and when. We configure that logging and the periodic test schedule the statutes expect, then keep the records in a form you can hand to an auditor, an insurer or your own counsel without a scramble.
SECURITY INTEGRATION
Cameras, Access & Notification
A duress alarm is stronger when the rest of your security moves with it. We tie the alert into cameras so a responder can see the scene, into access control so a door can be held or released, and into mass notification where a wider warning is warranted. Each link is built to help the response, never to watch your staff for its own sake.
THE DEVICE IS THE EASY PART
The button is ten percent of the system.
We build the other ninety.
A generalist mounts the transmitter and is gone by the afternoon. The other ninety percent is engineering, and it is ours: the location layer, the alert routing, the full building coverage, the device fleet, the network path and the record behind every press.

Generalist Alarm Installer
NYC IT WORKS · HOSPITALITY-GRADE
A floor-by-floor beacon map we calibrate and verify room by room, and re-survey after any renovation, so every alert carries a specific floor and zone
A full-building RF survey with gateways placed for back-of-house penetration, and a documented heatmap that covers every stairwell and basement space
A multi-path escalation tree tied to the live shift schedule, failing over to the next responder, with every delivery attempt logged
A dedicated, segmented network on battery-backed power with a monitored second path, and the system itself tells us the moment a link drops
Fleet management with battery telemetry, heartbeat check-ins, missing-device alerts and controlled firmware across every unit
Scheduled test activations and timestamped logs of every press, route and delivery, exportable as a record your counsel can review, kept to one standard at every property you run across New York and New Jersey
Which floor the worker is actually on
The alert fires but lands the worker on the wrong floor, because Wi-Fi bleeds through the concrete slabs and height was never calibrated
Signal is checked at the front desk and assumed everywhere else, then dies in the stairwell, the sub-cellar laundry and behind the elevator core
It routes to one panel or one manager phone, and the chain breaks in silence when that person quits, sleeps or rotates off shift
It rides the guest Wi-Fi and a single switch, so one firmware update, outage or power blip takes it down with nobody aware
The devices leave the box charged, then batteries die and units walk off, and no one knows which are dead until one is pressed
The places a lone worker is truly alone
Who the alert reaches when the first person is gone
What happens when the network shifts underneath it
Keeping a fleet of wearables ready every shift
What you can show when counsel or an inspector asks
The file holds an install receipt and nothing else, no proof the system fired last month or was ever tested
A panic button is a promise a hotel makes to the people who clean its rooms. NYC IT Works makes that promise real in the way that counts, the alarm carries a room-and-floor location and reaches the on-site responders, built and kept working across both New York and New Jersey.
HOW IT WORKS
Three steps from an untested button to a system you can prove works.
01
Book a 15-Minute Call
Tell us which devices your staff carry now and where you worry: a stairwell with no signal, an alert nobody sees, an obligation you are not certain you have covered. No pressure, nothing to sign.
03
Your Plan, Documented
You walk away with the coverage, the location map and the alert routing laid out floor by floor, the price fixed, and the test-and-record plan in writing, ready to put in motion with us or to hand to any contractor you choose.
02
Free Coverage and Response Assessment
A senior engineer walks the property with you and presses a live test device where coverage is hardest, the fire stairs, the roof door, the walk-in cooler, then shows you on a plan where the alert lands, where it does not, and what it takes to close each gap.

THE WHOLE STACK
The safety system is one thread in a property we already manage in full.
The pieces a hotel truly runs on: the infrastructure beneath the floor, the systems a guest touches, and the builds that exist only in hospitality, all held to account by a single team.
Networks & Infrastructure
FOUNDATION
A panic alert is tiny, but it has to cross the building the instant it is sent, so it leans on the same backbone every other system shares. We hold the internet links and their backups, the cabling and wireless into every corner, the switches that carry both power and data, the firewalls, and the servers on site. The location and alert traffic gets its own protected lane, and a standby path keeps it moving even when the main link drops. A safety signal is the last thing that should ever wait for bandwidth.
Built Only For Hotels
HOSPITALITY BUILDS
Hotels depend on systems no other kind of business runs. Staff duress is one of them, and around it sit the front desk and its PMS, the guest-room phones, the keycards and mobile entry, the televisions and casting, and the controls for heat, light and power. Each of these touches the property network at its own junction, and those junctions are ours to keep. Every system named here has a spoke of its own to open.
Cybersecurity
PILLAR
A safety system is also a security target, and anything that can summon help can be turned against people if it is left open. We lock down the duress platform and its location data first, then give it the cover the whole property gets: endpoints watched and answered around the clock, email and DNS screened, cameras and door access held under control, the staff trained, and the card-data evidence an auditor will ask for kept ready.
AI Infrastructure
PILLAR
Some operators want AI in the building, help that reads the floor, catches a pattern across incidents, drafts the report, without a single staff or guest record leaving the property. That means keeping it on site: a server you own, models that never travel, and retrieval over your own logs, procedures and records. What it answers comes only from your own data, and none of it crosses the property line.
Smart Spaces
EXPERIENCE LAYER
The experience a guest moves through: music in the public rooms, screens and digital signage, wayfinding at the turns, and lighting and climate that shift with the moment. All of it runs on the same segmented network the safety devices use, and the whole layer is engineered together. Commercial AV has a spoke of its own.
Managed IT
ONE ACCOUNTABLE TEAM
The people behind every layer above. Your team reaches a real help desk, by phone or on site, at any hour of any day. Quietly, the rest keeps turning: servers and endpoints patched and monitored, backups made and tested, a recovery plan on the shelf, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace in good order, and vCIO planning plus co-managed support for your own staff. Take this team away and nothing above it holds.

WHAT THE ALARM TRAVELS ON WHEN A SECOND COUNTS.
An alarm is only as dependable as the network it rides, which is why we put that network on Ubiquiti UniFi: PoE switching for the sensors and access points, a lane walled off for safety and location traffic, on the one managed fabric that also runs guest internet, the cameras and the door hardware. N-able keeps a continuous watch on it and patches it before trouble starts. What you end up with is a single documented network at each property, the panic button riding on it, looked after by the same people you call when anything goes quiet.
Systems we work across:
React Mobile · ROAR for Good · TraknProtect · Relay · Vocera · RFT Help Alert · And More!
The network, the location layer and the integrations behind your duress platform are what we keep healthy. We do not sell the devices, and we are not your alarm company or your lawyers. What we do is make sure the button reaches a real person, with an accurate location, from every corner of the property.
Hotel Panic Button FAQs
START HERE
Give your staff a button that does more than make noise.
Start with a short call. Then a senior engineer comes to the property and pressure-tests what you already have: press the button in the worst corner of the building and see whether it names the room and raises the right station. You leave with a plan in plain language, a fixed price and every finding written down, whatever you decide to do next.
